At Kingsbridge Montessori School, we believe that education should be a journey of discovery and exploration. Our approach to learning is designed to inspire creativity, independence, and critical thinking skills in our students. In this article, we will take you through a typical day in the life of a student at Kingsbridge Montessori School, so you can get a sense of the unique experience we offer.
8:00 am – Arrival and Morning Meeting
Students arrive at school between 8:00 and 8:30 am. As they enter the classroom, they greet their teachers and friends and put away their belongings. The day begins with a morning meeting, where the students come together to discuss the day’s activities and any important news or announcements.
8:30 am – Work Time
After the morning meeting, the students begin their work time. This is a period of uninterrupted work where the students are free to choose their activities and work at their own pace. The classroom is filled with a variety of materials and activities that the students can choose from, including practical life, math, language, science, and cultural activities. The teachers are available to provide guidance and support, but the students are in control of their own learning.
10:30 am – Snack Time
After a busy morning of work, the students take a break for snack time. They sit together at a table, enjoying a healthy snack and conversation with their classmates.
11:00 am – Outdoor Time
At Kingsbridge Montessori School, we believe in the importance of outdoor play and exploration. The students spend time outside, running, playing, and exploring nature. This is an important time for the students to develop gross motor skills, social skills, and an appreciation for the natural world.
12:00 pm – Lunch Time
After outdoor time, the students return to the classroom for lunch. They sit together at a table, enjoying a healthy meal and conversation with their classmates.
1:00 pm – Group Lessons
In the afternoon, the students participate in group lessons. These lessons are designed to introduce new concepts and ideas to the students and to provide opportunities for collaborative learning. The lessons may focus on math, language, science, or cultural activities. The students engage in hands-on activities and discussions that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
2:30 pm – Work Time
After group lessons, the students have another period of work time. They can choose to continue working on the activities they started in the morning or to explore new activities. The teachers continue to provide guidance and support, but the students are encouraged to work independently and to take ownership of their own learning.
3:30 pm – Reflection and Dismissal
At the end of the day, the students come together for a reflection period. This is a time for the students to reflect on their day, to share their accomplishments and challenges, and to set goals for the next day. The teachers provide feedback and encouragement, and the students leave feeling motivated and inspired.
At Kingsbridge Montessori School, every day is a new adventure. Our students are free to explore and discover the world around them, to develop their own interests and passions, and to learn at their own pace. Our approach to learning is designed to inspire creativity, independence, and critical thinking skills, and we believe that every child has the potential to achieve great things.
